Westin Tampa Bay announced the appointment of David Sheets as General Manager. A dynamic leader with over 28 years of hospitality experience, 19 of which were based in Florida, Sheets will oversee every aspect of the waterfront hotel that was recently acquired by premier real estate development group, Castlerock Asset Management. This includes plans for a long-term investment that will bring Westin Tampa Bay to its fullest potential by the end of 2020.
With an extensive resume and a strong background in rooms, financials, and food and beverage, Sheets’ interest in the hospitality industry began with a job at a local pub in Chicago where he worked as a bartender, server and manager to put himself through college at Roosevelt University where he ultimately graduated with a degree in hospitality management. Since then, Sheets’ has carved out an outstanding hospitality career where he has led various hotels as General Manager, including his most recent position at The Westshore Grand, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Tampa.
“I’ve lived and worked in Florida for most of my career and I’m passionate about the locals, people I work with every day and new travelers to the destination – everyone has a story. I hope to build upon the culture and sense of community as I believe Westin Tampa Bay will elevate hospitality standards,” says Sheets.
Sheets is also active in the community and works with the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce as well as various charities such as United Way Suncoast.
