La Cabana, Aruba, Expands Guest Services To Function As A ‘One-Stop’ Concierge-Style Desk

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (June 21, 2002) – In keeping with its mission to offer its guests the conveniences of a “one-stop” shop, La Cabana All Suite Beach Resort in Aruba has reorganized the Guest Services Department as a lobby-based, concierge, complaint department and all-around service provider. Heading this all-important department is Supervisor Rita Tromp who likens her job to “a concierge without the fancy title.”
In addition to assisting guests with plans for tours and dinner reservations, the Guest Services staff will handle all guest problems and complaints and work immediately to solve issues with accommodations, services and even off-property activities.
Tromp and her four assistants often act as problem-solvers. “The most important thing we do is following up to make sure that guests’ problems are taken care of to their satisfaction. That’s why we’re called Guest Services,” Tromp says.
Some of the things that can be arranged through La Cabana’s Guest Services include:
· Reservations for off-property restaurants, local tours and on-property activities.
· The purchase of a variety of meal plans incorporating La Cabana’s excellent dining options. For example, the Club Caribe, Cabana Medley and All-Inclusive plans are all available.
· Requests for fruit baskets or flower arrangements to be delivered to a guest’s room or even for more unusual things like renting a piano for a week (requests must be made in advance). Requests can even be submitted by e-mail.
· Baby-sitting services using qualified, pre-screened employees.
· Appointments for limousine pick-up and delivery to the airport, massages and hair braiding.
· Assistance with staying connected to e-mail and the Internet (advising guests of fees, providing information regarding hook-up, etc.).
· Arrangements for weddings and renewal of vows. La Cabana works with “Aruba Weddings For You,” a local company specializing in such ceremonies. Guest Services can do some simple decorations (such as dressing-up a tree) at no extra charge to guests. Fees apply for extra special elements such as flowers, balloons and the services of a professional photographer.
Located in the main La Cabana lobby, Guest Services is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Tromp notes: “If we can’t handle it, we will find a staff member who will be able to satisfy the guest’s request. If we can’t, then we’ll go off-property for assistance. We are here to service the needs of our guests so they return home completely satisfied with their vacation experience at La Cabana.”
