Australia’s Federal Hotels & Resorts Selects OPERA Multi-Property Hotel Systems and MICROS 9700 Point-Of-Sale Solutions

Columbia, MD—June 25, 2002—MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality industry, has been selected by Federal Hotels & Resorts of Australia to provide its fully integrated OPERA Multi-Property suite of applications together with its 9700 Multi-Property Point-of-Sale system, the first to be installed worldwide. The OPERA Multi-Property suite includes Property Management, Sales & Catering, and Quality Management Systems, and is the first system of its kind to be installed in the Asia-Pacific region. Centrally located at Wrest Point Hotel Casino in Hobart Tasmania, the new system connects via WAN to Country Club Casino & Resort and Country Club Villas in Launceston, and will shortly be installed in Strahan Village, located in Tasmania’s world-heritage-listed Franklin River wilderness area.

The OPERA Multi-Property PMS is a full-featured, scalable property management solution for hospitality companies with a variety of locations, brands and concepts. With its intuitive graphical user interface, screen painter tools and parameter-driven functionality, the OPERA PMS will be able to meet the varied requirements of Federal Hotels & Resorts’ growing portfolio of hotels, resorts and casinos.

The MICROS 9700 HMS is a cost-effective Point-of-Sale (POS) system utilizing Windows 2000 Server. It is specifically designed to handle a high-volume, multiple-revenue center environment. The 9700 HMS Remote Management Console has been engineered to deliver configuration management and reporting virtually anywhere, even many kilometers/miles from the server. The 9700 HMS robust Windows based client exceeds all others by combining the functionality needed to handle such a diverse environment while remaining simple and easy to maintain.
