Negotiation Breakdown Leads to Lockout at Montreal’s Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Hotel commenced a lockout at 6 a.m. today following unsuccessful negotiations with union representatives. The hotel’s management expressed regret that its proposal, which has recently been accepted at 17 other Quebec hotel establishments, was rejected.

Despite pulling back several initial demands and involving conciliators in the negotiation process over the past year, the hotel management has not reached an agreement with the union. The union has stayed steadfast in its stance, continuing to press for demands the management finds unreasonable.

While committed to the well-being of its employees, the hotel acknowledges the potential concerns this lockout might raise among its customers and partners. Apologizing for any inconvenience, the management reassured its clientele that steps are being taken to ensure minimal disruptions and maintain high-quality service.

Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth is willing to resume constructive negotiations towards a swift and mutually satisfactory conclusion. The hotel remains hopeful that a resolution that respects the interests of all parties involved can be reached in due course.
