WestCoast Hospitality Corporation Integrates National Sales Strategy

SPOKANE, Wash., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — WestCoast Hospitality Corporation (NYSE: WEH) today introduced a national sales strategy that integrates sales forces from WestCoast Hotels and Red Lion Hotels and Inns. The combined national sales force is responsible for supporting the sales and marketing efforts of the hotels through a variety of functions.
National Directors of Sales support the sales and marketing efforts of all within the WestCoast Family of Hotels. The Director maintains consistent communication regarding all available sales tools and opportunities, and acts as a resource to the hotel's on-site team to assist in obtaining maximum revenue potential.
Each National Sales Director is also responsible for sales solicitation to an assigned market segment including sales to the association market; crew/permanent market; tour and travel market; government, education, religious and fraternal organization markets; and the corporate market. Our National Sales Team is divided by market segments so that each Director is focused on delivering that segment throughout the chain of hotels, offering customers one touch point to plan their group travel to any of our almost 100 locations, explained Sharon Sanchez, Executive Vice President, WestCoast Hotels. This group of Directors comes from both the Red Lion and WestCoast organizations, each with rich backgrounds in the hospitality industry. They will be a valuable tool to our individual hotels in their efforts to reach large volume accounts that would be difficult to attract on a property by property sales effort.
Leading the National Director of Sales efforts are Elaine Bennett (association market), Chuck Carter (crew/permanent market), Roger Clute (tour and travel market), Jack Gettles (government, education, religious and fraternal organization markets) and Cheryl Foster (corporate market). The team of Directors is lead by Lori Farnell, Vice President of Sales, WestCoast Hotels. Ms. Farnell has more than 20 years of experience in hotel sales.
Sanchez continued, By combining the sales efforts of both brands we increase the capability to cross-sell among those brands and to introduce their respective national level client bases to additional opportunities within the same organization through an integrated sales approach. In addition to direct sales efforts, WestCoast Hospitality Corporation attends national and regional sales shows to represent both brands.
WestCoast Hospitality Corporation completed the acquisition of Red Lion Hotels, Inc. in December 2001 and now owns, manages and franchises more than 90 hotels in 16 states.
