USFS Outstanding Service Awards

ATLANTA (March 1, 2002) – Since its inception in 1995, U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc. (USFS) has been uniquely characterized in the hospitality industry by providing personal customer service in the midst of an era of e-mail and voice mail. For the second year, USFS has honored seven corporate employees with the Outstanding Service Provider Award and honored one of the recipients with the Mike Leven Culture Award. Atlanta-based USFS is the parent company of the franchisors of the Microtel Inns & Suites, Hawthorn Suites and Best Inns & Suites hotel brands.

Each year, one outstanding employee is chosen to receive the Mike Leven Culture Award for most closely modeling the company's guiding principles, vision and values. Atlanta-based Debbie Kennedy, director of Compliance, has been honored as the 2001 Mike Leven Culture Award recipient.

Debbie is a consummate customer service professional, a joy to be around, and demonstrates daily her resolve at being a stepping stone not a stumbling block to the myriad of administrative opportunities with which she is presented, whether that customer be a franchisee, a lender, an attorney, or another member of the USFS team, says Roy Flora, sr. vice president of Franchise Operations for USFS. A detail-oriented person in a detail-oriented environment, Debbie never loses sight of a personal touch.

Employees from a variety of departments were recognized from both the Atlanta headquarters and Marion, IL central reservations office. The winners were nominated by their co-workers, with endorsements from various franchisees, for providing exemplary customer service above and beyond the high standards already set by the company.

USFS was founded on the belief that the customer comes first, says Mike Leven, ceo and president of USFS. The company enjoys a close relationship with our franchisees and we take their opinion into consideration when making any decision that might affect their business.
