RAMADA OPENS NEW HOTEL IN SHANGHAI
SHANGHAI – The Ramada hotel group has opened a new luxury four-star property in China – the 222-room Ramada Plaza Pudong
– Shanghai. Located in the centre of the Jinqiao Export Processing Zone in Pudong, the hotel is 23km from Hongqiao International Airport and 13km from Pudong International Airport, with easy access to all major highways. Part of the 38-storey Civil Aviation Mansion complex, the hotel features amenities including a business centre, gift shop, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, sauna, squash and billiard rooms, outdoor tennis courts and a basketball court. A ballroom seats 280 people for functions and an auditorium seats 350 people. Another function room seats 120 and two conference rooms can accommodate up to 80.
FIVE HOTELS REBRANDED IN ASIA
HONG KONG – Accor and Century International Hotels have launched five co-branded hotels in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen, China. The hotels include the 516-room Novotel Century Hong Kong (formerly the Century Hong Kong Hotel), the 418-room Novotel Century Kuala Lumpur (formerly the Century Kuala Lumpur) and the 276-room Novotel Century Harbourview (formerly the Century Harbour Hotel). Two more hotels have been rebranded – the 152-room Novotel Watergate Shenzhen (formerly the Watergate Century Hotel Shenzhen) and the 210-room Ibis North Point (formerly the Century Inn North Point).
ACCOR SEASONAL SALE STARTS AT 75 HOTELS
KUALA LUMPUR – The Accor hotel group has launched a seasonal winter sale at more than 75 properties in Asia. The special offers of up to 50 per cent off published rates, including breakfast, are available at Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, Libertel and Coralia hotels until March 17 this year. Discount rates include the Novotel Century Kuala Lumpur at US$62 per room per night, the Novotel Siam Square in Bangkok at US$69, the Novotel Atlantis Shanghai at US$88, the Novotel Apollo Singapore at US$93, the Novotel Century Hong Kong at US$117, the Sofitel Metropole Hanoi at US$122 and the Sofitel Royal Angkor at US$135.

PHILIPPINE AIRLINES EXPANDS CEBU-SEOUL FLIGHTS
CEBU – Philippine Airlines (PAL) has doubled the frequency of its service between Cebu and Seoul to four flights a week. PAL began operating two charter flights (Wednesdays and
Saturdays) on the route last December, on top of its regular twice-weekly service (Tuesdays and Sundays). The charter flights will be converted into regular scheduled flights soon. The new flights (PR488) depart Cebu every Wednesday and Saturday at 3:20pm and arrive at Seoul's Incheon International Airport at 8:50pm. The return service (PR489) departs Incheon at 9:50pm on the same days, touching down at Cebu's Mactan International Airport at 1:25am the next day.
CATHAY EXPANDS CODE-SHARE WITH BRITISH AIRWAYS
HONG KONG – Cathay Pacific Airways and oneworld alliance partner British Airways have expanded a code-share agreement to cover flights to Kuala Lumpur, Auckland and 11 destinations in Europe. The code-share will provide smoother European connections for Cathay passengers arriving on the airline's two daily flights from Hong Kong and for Asia Pacific connections for British Airways passengers travelling between Hong Kong and both Kuala Lumpur and Auckland.
DISCOUNT RATE OFFERED AT GRAND HYATT TAIPEI
TAIPEI – The Grand Hyatt Taipei has announced the launch of special promotional rates of NT$5,330 ($US152) for deluxe accommodation and NT$6,320 for a Grand Club room. The Grand Club rate includes business centre, concierge services, a private Grand Club lounge, breakfast, meeting rooms and broadband internet link-up. The offer is valid until February 28, 2002. Great Deal rates are also available at 80 Hyatt hotels worldwide.
REGAL HOTELS LAUNCH WINTER RATES
HONG KONG – Regal Hotels International has launched new winter rates, the Regal Winter Temptation package, valid until Match 15 this year. The Regal Kaitak Hotel is offering a rate of HK$700 ($US89) per night for a single room and HK$750 for a double. The Regal Riverside Hotel is HK$780, the Regal Kowloon Hotel HK$880, the Regal Airport Hotel HK$1,200, the Regal Hong Kong Hotel HK$1,230, the Regal Shanghai East Asia Hotel US$88 and the Regal International East Asia Hotel, Shanghai US$130. The package includes deluxe accommodation, free miles and late check-out until 1600.
HANOI HOTEL OFFERS TET FESTIVAL DISCOUNT
HANOI – Vietnam is soon to hold the important annual festival of TET (Tet Nguyen Dan), in order to mark the new lunar year and the start of spring on the solar calendar. As a result, the five-star Melia Hanoi hotel is offering a special TET Experience package, valid from February 9-17. Rates are US$69 per room per night for a deluxe room and US$99 nett per room per night for executive suite accommodation. ST REGIS INTRODUCES WIRELESS CONNECTIONS
SHANGHAI – The St. Regis Shanghai, a business hotel, has introduced always-on high-speed wireless internet connections for all hotel guests. Using a local area network card, guests can access the internet anywhere in the hotel public areas from the 1st to the 3rd floors. This enables guests to move around the hotel and take their work with them – in all guestrooms, meeting rooms, conference areas and the mezzanine cigar lounge. The LAN PC cards are available for rental at the business centre at RMB400 per day. A team of specially trained butlers is also available for all guests when they experience any computer difficulties.
