Plans for First of its Kind, Disability Accessible Hotel, Opening in Germany

December 21, 2000 — HVS International — A £20 million hotel, said to be the first of its kind, is being designed in Germany for disabled guests. The hotel is located close to Berlin and is to be called House Rheinsberg – Hotel on the lake.

According to Michael Schmidt, head of the foundation building, the purpose of the project, is to provide a hotel with every amenity for an enjoyable holiday for people with a range of disabilities.

The project which is expected to open next summer has raised funding largely from a foundation for the disabled and from the state of Brandenburg, which is contributing £3 million.

While the hotel is aimed at people with disabilities, it will not discriminate against fully-mobile holidaymakers. The hotel is to be a fully profit-making enterprise.
