AmeriSuites Enters Fourth Year With American Spirit Racing in Trans-Am Series

Returns as 'Preferred Hotel' and Title Sponsor of the 'Rookie of the Year'

FAIRFIELD, N.J., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AmeriSuites Hotels will once again sponsor American Spirit Racing in the Trans-Am Racing Series. The 2002 racing season represents the second of a three-year deal, which debuted the Team's new Jaguar XKR, and claimed victory at the infamous Road America circuit in 2001 with driver Michael Lewis, who was also named Most Improved Driver.
AmeriSuites began its association as the primary sponsor of American Spirit Racing in the Trans-Am Series in 1999, a year that saw the Team lead the Championship early on and finish the season in fourth place. Under a new three year agreement in 2001, AmeriSuites expanded its participation in the Series to include the designation as the Preferred Hotel of the Trans-Am Series and the title sponsor of the highly sought after AmeriSuites Rookie of the Year award.
2001, was also the first year to include major network coverage on the CBS television network. As in the previous year, three events will be broadcast in 2002 on CBS with the remaining races broadcast on the SpeedChannel cable station (formerly Speedvision). As part of its sponsorship, AmeriSuites will receive audio mentions during the CBS broadcasts and three 30-second commercial time spots during every SpeedChannel broadcast. CBS coverage of the Trans-Am Series more than doubled any previous exposure received.
The 2002 Trans-Am season includes three new exciting events, as well the return of three traditional venues that were absent from last year's schedule. The three inaugural events expand the Series' exposure into new key markets with the Grand Prix of the Americas in Miami, Florida, the National Grand Prix of Washington, DC and the Grand Prix of Denver in Colorado. This year will also see the return of Trans-Am to the traditional Memorial Day weekend venue at Lime Rock Park, Connecticut as well as to the famous Road Atlanta road course and a trip north of the border to Trois-Riveries, Quebec, Canada.
Our sponsorship of American Spirit Racing in the Trans-Am Series has allowed us to reach new and valuable customers in different markets. The additional involvement as the Preferred Hotel and the title sponsor of the prestigious AmeriSuites Rookie of the Year award has brought AmeriSuites even greater exposure, noted Jim Gard, Vice President of Marketing Services for AmeriSuites' parent company, Prime Hospitality Corp. We are very enthusiastic about our involvement in the Trans-Am Series and the added exposure the AmeriSuites brand will receive with the new venues and expanded television coverage. AmeriSuites will also promote the series with a lively consumer sweepstakes advertised on national cable television.
In addition to the prominent AmeriSuites identification on the #12 Jaguar, team transporter and uniforms, the chain's Preferred Hotel designation requires all cars and transporters in the Series to display the AmeriSuites logo. Th proprietary trade names AmeriSuites(R), and Wellesley Inn & Suites(R) and under franchise agreements with national hotel chains. There are currently 138 AmeriSuites properties located in 31 states, with primary concentration in key markets such as Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Miami, Dallas and Nashville.
