Choice Inks Agreement With Caribbean Hotel Association To Leverage Power Of Choicebuys.Com

Silver Spring, MD (August 29, 2002) – Worldwide lodging franchisor Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH) has entered into an agreement with the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) that gives CHA access to the technology, vendor relationships and purchasing power of, Choice’s award-winning e-procurement system.

The agreement calls for the creation of, an e-procurement system that employs’s technology platform and is available to CHA’s 35 affiliated island nation associations and 900-plus hotel membership. Additionally, the agreement is crafted to give users access to the leveraged purchasing power of, and endorsed vendors participating on the Choice site may also elect to participate on the CHA site.

“In creating over three years ago, we essentially built an e-procurement template that can be adapted for use by other organizations,” said Daniel Rothfeld, Choice’s senior vice president, partner services. “We are proud to welcome the Caribbean Hotel Association as the first organization to channel the state-of-the-art technology, purchasing power and vendor relationships represented by for their own benefit.”

According to the agreement, Choice will receive revenues via an annual licensing fee, subscription fees from participating vendors and transaction fees. is slated to launch in the 4th quarter of 2002.
