Best Western Hits Grand Slam With A Trip Of A Lifetime

A lucky guest will go to the World Series and throw out a ceremonial first pitch

PHOENIX, July 22, 2002 – Best Western, The World's Largest Hotel Chain(tm) announced today that it has teamed up with MasterCard International for the MasterCard Presents Major League Baseball Memorable Moments promotion. The partnership is part of a summer-long promotion that gives Best Western guests, MasterCard cardholders and baseball fans the opportunity to vote on baseball's most memorable moment and a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to the World Series.

The grand prize winner will throw out a ceremonial first pitch at one of this year's World Series games. The prize package includes four tickets to the game, lodging, airfare, ground transportation and spending money. In addition, Best Western will award daily prizes including autographed memorabilia and weekly prizes that include tickets to local Major League Baseball games across the United States.

We are delighted to extend our partnership with MasterCard International as a key sponsor in the Memorable Moments promotion, said Bob Gilbert, vice president of Worldwide Marketing and Sales, Best Western International. Summers are synonymous with fun, family, travel and baseball. For 56 years, Best Western has been hosting families as they travel across our great country. And now, there is no better way to enjoy America's pastime than by visiting a Best Western and registering for a chance to win exciting memorabilia, attend a baseball game, or even better yet, an all-expenses trip for four to the World Series and throw out the ceremonial first pitch, Gilbert added.

We're thrilled that Best Western could partner with MasterCard on this great promotion. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reach the most fervent and most casual of baseball fans, said Bob Cramer, vice president, Global Sponsorships & Event Marketing, MasterCard International. The concept of 'Memorable Moments' is universal in that it touches nearly everyone who's ever come into contact with the sport, across every generation.

To enter the contest, simply pay for your stay at a Best Western hotel with a MasterCard card. Anyone wishing to vote for their most Memorable Moment may do so by visiting the Best Western web site at www.bestwestern.com, via in-stadium balloting, or by logging on to MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball.

The MasterCard Presents Major League Baseball Memorable Moments promotion runs from July 9th through September 20, 2002 and is open residents of the United States over the age of 18.
