Woodspring Hotels, Bernadette Ruby Sued For Unfair Competitive Business Practices

Lawsuit alleges Woodspring Hotels LLC and its VP of Sales, Bernadette Ruby, worked with IT contractor to steal confidential and competitively sensitive information to unfairly compete

On October 31, 2016, Woodspring Hotels LLC and two individuals, including one of WoodSpring’s officers, were sued by Extended Stay America, Inc. and one of its affiliates (collectively “ESA”) in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, Cause No. 2:16-cv-02744-CM-JPO.

The Complaint alleges that WoodSpring’s VP of Sales, Bernadette Ruby, worked with an IT contractor to steal ESA’s confidential and competitively sensitive information to unfairly compete against ESA. ESA has asked the Court to issue an injunction restraining all three defendants from using and disclosing ESA’s information and otherwise engaging in unfair competition.

ESA does not plan to make any further public comments on the litigation until it is resolved.
