LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 8, 2002–The websites of three Mandalay Resort Group (NYSE:MBG) entertainment destinations — Circus Circus and Luxor in Las Vegas and Gold Strike in Tunica, Miss. — have been honored for their creative innovation, efficiency and ease of use by the Web Marketing Association in the Hotel and Lodging Category.
The sixth annual WebAwards were presented during ceremonies at the Internet World conference in New York City on Oct. 1. The award-winning websites were designed and implemented by Apollo Interactive, a leading interactive agency specializing in web development, internet marketing and technology integration.
The awards were:
— CircusCircus.com: Outstanding Hotel and Lodging Website — Redesigned in early 2002, the site offers online reservations, information on the hotel, and a tour of the Adventuredome Theme Park.
— Luxor.com: Outstanding Hotel and Lodging Website — The Flash-driven site offers personalization, online reservations and information about all aspects of the resort, including hidden facts about the property and ancient Egypt.
— GoldStrikeMississippi.com: Hotel and Lodging Website Standard of Excellence — This comprehensive site offers online room reservations, a multimedia-rich entertainment calendar and online event ticket purchasing.
A record 1,300 sites from 19 countries competed in 78 categories, making this year's competition the toughest yet. Entries were judged on design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use and application of technology. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.
