March 30 Deadline For 2014 CHTA Education Foundation Scholarship Applications Fast Approaching
CHTAEF urges all Caribbean tourism and hospitality students and professionals who require financial assistance to pursue their dreams of achieving and advancing their career in the tourism and hospitality field.
The March 30, 2014 deadline to apply for the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) scholarship program is fast approaching. CHTAEF urges all Caribbean tourism and hospitality students and professionals who require financial assistance to pursue their dreams of achieving and advancing their career in the tourism and hospitality field.
The absolute deadline for applications is March 30, 2014 at 5 pm Eastern Caribbean Time. Full details can be found at http://www.caribbeanhotelandtourism.com or by contacting one’s local hotel association.
Applications must be submitted with the approval of the applicant’s local hotel association in order to be considered.
Scholarship recipients will be advised of their approval status and, if accepted, the amount of their award, no earlier than May 25, 2014.
“Far too many people put off education and training because of financial constraints,” said Richard S. Kahn, chairman of CHTAEF.
“Many scholarship recipients have gone on to achieve great success, but it only works if those who need it take advantage,” said Kahn, urging industry partners and media to spread the word on the opportunities available.
In 2013, CHTAEF awarded 24 scholarships totaling US$154,500 to Caribbean nationals pursuing higher education or professional development in hospitality and tourism after receiving 48 qualified applications from 13 countries.
CHTAEF awards worthy Caribbean nationals who demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospitality and tourism industry, proving the potential for future success, with scholarship money to enhance or further their expertise. This includes academic tuition scholarships, short-course professional development tuition scholarships, work experience placement opportunities, and grants for tourism and hospitality teachers for furthering their education or to gain industry work experience.

CHTA Education Foundation
The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) was established in 1987 as a stand-alone non-profit / tax-exempt organization, through which scholarships and special assistance would be made available for the education of Caribbean hotel industry personnel and students pursuing careers in tourism.
As part of its mission, the Education Foundation provides people throughout the Caribbean region with an awareness of the industry’s varied career opportunities, as well as technical and professional development.
Since 1987, the Education Foundation has awarded approximately US$2 million in scholarships and grants to applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to the hotel and tourism industry.
The Education Foundation is also active in supporting Haitian students & industry personnel following the devasting earthquake in January 2010 by facilitating a holistic Spoken English/ Practical Hospitality Skills training project in Port au Prince, leading to Haitian students moving to various Caribbean colleges to study for their Assocaites and Bachelors degrees, so able to return home and be major catalysts in the uplift of Haitian tourism.
